Biography

Azad Behnan Sabow was born in Erbil, North of Iraq on the 21st July 1979. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Erbil. He pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Resources from the College of Agriculture, Salahaddin University-Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He graduated with a First Class Honors in July 2002. In November, 2002, he joined the same University as a research assistant in the Department of Animal Resources.

Azad started his MSc programme in the College of Agriculture, Salahaddin University-Erbil in November, 2004 focusing his research interests in the areas of meat production and technology. Having been awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, he started his PhD program in September, 2012 at the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia to continue with further research on welfare, physiological stress responses and quality characteristics of carcass and meat in goats subjected to different slaughter methods. After completing his PhD programme, he was employed as a lecturer at the Department of Animal Resources and is an academic staff of the Salahaddin Universit-Erbil, College of Agriculture to date.
