Biography

Dr Hawkar Taher Taha is a Assistant Professor  in the Physics Department, Science College, Salahaddin-Erbil University. He received the BSc. degree in Physics from University of Salahaddin-Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq in 1992 Then he worked as a physical assistant for one years in the same department. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Solid State Physics and Nanotechnology from the same University in 1996 and 2008 respectively. His project of M.Sc. was related to the calculation of energy band structure of GaAs semiconductors using OPW method theoretically, whereas his Ph.D. project focused mainly on lattice thermal conductivity of Si nanowires. He has participated in different international & local conferences and joined a series of workshops and training courses that are closely related to what he is teaching. He taught a wide range of courses in the Physics department within the undergraduate programs such as solid state physics, nanotechnology, Quantum Mechanics, Optics, Linear Algebra, Properties of matter and General physics, etc. He supervised numerous research projects for undergraduate students and Now Two M.Sc. Students.

For him, the act of teaching is as exciting & important as what he is teaching. He believes that teachers must embrace change, encourage innovation, and foster creativity, not just in their students, but in themselves.

Dr. Hawkar is interested in researching different topics such as semiconductors, thin film and nanotechnology.
