He has earned a formidable academic background, holding both a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting and finance from Erasmus University-Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Notably, he further solidified his academic prowess by obtaining a PhD in Accounting/Financial Accounting from Salahaddin University through a collaborative program with Erasmus University-Rotterdam.    

With a keen focus on contributing to the academic discourse, Kawa Wali's research interests span a diverse spectrum of topics, including but not limited to financial reporting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), corporate governance, and risk management.
