Biography

My name is Muhsin Jamil Abdulwahid, and I was born and now reside in Erbil/ Iraq. At the age of six, I began attending Kamaram Primary School. When I was 13 years old, I enrolled in Cheman secondary school. When I was 16 years old, I began attending a Kurdistan preparatory school. Based on the degree I earned in the sixth year of preparatory school, I subsequently enrolled in the Department of Biology at the University of Salahddin's College of Sciences. And when I earned my degree in biology in 1998, I was in the top four students in both the department and the college. I began working in the Ministry of Health's laboratories in 1999 and spent the next seven years there. Thereafter, as a biological assistant, I changed my job to the Department of Biology. In 2008, I began a postgraduate Master's program at Duhok University in the area of molecular biology, which I finished in 2010. Since 2010, I have worked as a lecturer and researcher in the field of molecular genetics at Salahaddin University's molecular genetics unit. I use a variety of molecular study tools, including the conventional and real-time RT-PCR instruments that are accessible in our unit. I've done a lot of my research using both of these tools and educated other researchers on how to do the same. I've instructed a group of Ministry of Health staff members on how to diagnose the coronavirus using the RT-PCR machine in this global pandemic disease (COVID-19). I finished my Ph.D. degree in August 2022 at Salahaddin University's College of Science, Biology department. During two consecutive years, 2021 and 2022, I was assigned to manage the Scientific Research Center by the Director General in the month of August. In addition to assisting researchers like MSc and PhD students that visit our research center from other colleges and institutions in their research, my goal is to do research to solve problems that are already present in my community regarding genetic and inherited diseases in humans and also to help researchers like MSc and PhD students in their research when they come to our research center from different colleges and universities. In the molecular genetics area where I work, we frequently have researchers visit since our facility offers cutting-edge technology that is not found in other institutions. We run those machines, take part in their operation, and analyze and optimize the research processes for numerous researchers. In 2024, I am teaching the fourth grade medical biology students the Bioinformatics course and practical molecular biology to the third grade genenral biology students in the college of science.
