Biography
Dr. Faris Ali Mustafa is a Professor at the Department of Architectural Engineering, Salahaddin University - Erbil (SUE). He has been an Assistant Professor (2017), and Senior Lecturer (2011). He was promoted to Professor in 2023. He received a PhD of architecture from the University of Science Malaysia (USM) in 2011, and a Master in Environmental Design from Sudan University of Science & Technology in (2002).
Since 2012 to 2022 he has been a member of the Certificate Equalization Committee in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, KRG. He is a member of the Postgraduate Committee at the Department of Architecture (SUE), teaching the subjects of Design Studies and Research Methodology for MSc. Program. As for the undergraduate program, teaching subjects of Architectural Thesis (Graduation Project) and Vernacuapplylar Architecture.
Dr. Faris's main research interests are Architectural and Interior Design Studies, Building Performance and Functionality, Spatial Configuration and Functional Efficiency of Interior Spaces in Buildings and Facilities. He is active in writing and publishing research papers in ISI, international journals and conferences. His research and studies apply the theory of Space Syntax and its tools and techniques. He has published more than 40 articles in ISI and international journals, book, book chapters and international conferences.
