Biography
Mrs. Fenk is a lecturer in the architecture department at the University of Salahaddin-Erbil, where she has been a faculty member since 2009. She obtained her BS in Architecture from Salahaddin University–Erbil in 2009. She continued her M.Sc. in Sustainable Building and Environment at Newcastle University (United Kingdom) in 2013. She has been awarded an HCDP (Human Capacity Development Program) Scholarship to study for a master's degree in the UK as she graduated ranked first in her department during her bachelor's degree.
Her research interests include Sustainable Architecture, Environmental Design in Architecture, Building Technologies and Physics, Building Performance Simulation, Heritage Buildings, and Historical Retrofits. Considering architectural design within a broad social, environmental, and economic context.
She has published four research papers in recognised architecture and built environment-related journals and participated in academic conferences locally.
Her research was mostly about how the built environment, natural environment, and political economy in the Kurdistan region interact with each other. So, she is now using traditional methods and materials on new projects as a cooling system and then using Green BIM tools to evaluate how well it works.
During her career as an architect designer, she worked for two renowned companies for consulting engineering and then worked for (BUNYAN Consultant Engineering Bureau) as a founding member and a practising architect from its founding in 2010 till now. participating as an architect in designing and preparing a set of architectural drawings for several important projects in Erbil city.
She has been teaching Architectural Design Studio (First Stage) and Environment (Fourth Stage), Urban Design 4th Stage.
Currently, she is a Ph.D. student at Salahaddin University. -Erbil
