Biography

Dr. Goran Muhammad Khalil is a lecturer in the Physics Department, Science College, Salahaddin-Erbil University. He received the BSc. degree in Physics from University of Salahaddin-Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq in 1990. Then he worked as a physical assistant for two years in the same department. Dr. Khalil earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Solid State Physics from the same University in 1996 and 2010 respectively. His project of M.Sc. was related to the estimation of band structure of semiconductors theoretically, whereas his Ph.D. project focused mainly on several physical properties of semiconductors practically. He has participated in different international & local conferences and joined a series of workshops and training courses that are closely related to what he is teaching. He taught a wide range of courses in the Physics department within the undergraduate programs such as solid state physics, semiconductor physics, electromagnetic theory, atomic physics, analytical mechanics, etc. He supervised numerous research projects for undergraduate students.

For him, the act of teaching is as exciting & important as what he is teaching. He believes that teachers must embrace change, encourage innovation, and foster creativity, not just in their students, but in themselves.

Dr. Khalil is interested in researching different topics such as semiconductors, thin film and nanotechnology.

He has passed his half-life and continues to play sports to lead a healthy and happy life. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
