Biography

Hawnaz is an academic, researcher, and architect. She is a full-time lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Salahaddin University-Erbil, where she attained her bachelor's degree in 2004, securing the top position in the Architecture department and ranking third in the College of Engineering. Subsequently, she achieved her master's degree with honors in the School of Housing, Building, and Planning-2011 from USM-the University Sains Malaysia, where her research also earned her the top position. Currently, she has successfully obtained her Ph.D. in urban planning and design.

Throughout her professional journey, Hawnaz has garnered extensive experience in both theoretical and practical aspects while dedicating over fourteen years to teaching as a full-time assistant lecturer at Salahaddin University, in addition to her role as a part-time tutor at Tishk University and Cihan University. In recognition of her outstanding master's thesis, she was honored by senior lecturers at Salahaddin University. She had the opportunity to publish her book on Erbil city housing typology, focusing on city development. This accomplishment also led her to collaborate with JICA on the redevelopment of the city of Erbil.

Hawnaz's research interests encompass space syntax, housing typology and design, sustainable architecture, urban planning and design, urban economy, configurations, and spatial analysis.
