Biography

My current research activities focus on using integrated diagenesis, depositional facies, and sequence stratigraphic approach to unravel and predict the field- and basin-wide distribution of reservoir quality and heterogeneity in clastic and carbonate reservoirs.

I have worked on more than 50 consultancy and research projects in the last 18 years in close collaboration with international oil companies operating in the North Sea, Offshore Brazil, Libya and the Middle East. Main specialty is siliciclastic and carbonate petrology, sedimentology and diagenesis with special emphasis on reservoir characterization. Extensive experience in core description, thin-section analyses, pore typing, characterization of flow units, reservoir zonation, well correlation, integration with petrophysics and reservoir engineering data.

I have authored and co- authored more than 40 articles and book chapters about sedimentary geology in peer-reviewed international journals, and prepared numerous confidential technical consultancy reports. I have co-edited one book on Chemical, Mineralogical and Isotopic Studies of Diagenesis of Carbonate and Clastic Sediments for Minerals (ISSN 2075-163X) and currently editing a second book on the Effects of Diagenetic Alterations on Hydrocarbon Reservoirs and Water Aquifers for Water (ISSN 2073-4441).
