Biography
Saman Qadir Mawlud was born in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq, in 1973. He received the BSc. degree in Physics from the University of Salahaddin, Erbil, Iraq, in 1998, the M.Sc. degree in Laser Physics from the University of Salahaddin, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in nanomaterial glass science from the University of Technology Malaysia and the University of Salahaddin through a split site program, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, in 2017. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Physics, and has been the Director of the Laboratory of Optics and Lasers since 2006. He is a member of the Advanced Optical Material Research Group (AOMRG). He has published more than 40 scientific papers in the field of glass materials for solid-state laser and laser fiber communication systems. His research interests include the ageing mechanisms of laser diodes, the absorption and luminescence properties of rare earth materials for laser action, embedding NPs into glass matrix, and the thermal and structural characteristics of tellurite glass doped with rare earth and embedded with NPs.
