Biography

Shareef obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Mosul University, Iraq, in 1990. He later earned a Master of Science in Digital Communications Networks with distinction from London Metropolitan University, UK, in 2005. In 2007, he served as an expert at the ICT Centre of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In April 2009, he commenced his doctoral studies at the School of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering at the University of East London, UK, and successfully completed his PhD in 2012. During this period, he also worked as an hourly paid lecturer at the same institution.

Shareef has published extensively in his field and has contributed to the academic community by reviewing conference papers and articles for international journals. He is a member of several professional organizations and was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK in 2011.

From 2012 to 2017, he served as the Head of the Software and Informatics Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Salahaddin University-Erbil, Iraq. He then assumed the role of Dean of the College of Education and Languages at Lebanese French University-Erbil, Kurdistan-Iraq, where he also served as Director of Postgraduate Studies from 2017 to 2021. Throughout his academic career, he has supervised numerous MSc and PhD students within his field of expertise.

Currently, Shareef holds the position of Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies at Salahaddin University.
